Porsche 991 GT3 RS roll bar install. It’s always a pleasure working on a top-of-the-line car. Thankfully, at HG Performance we do a lot of those. There’s no question that the hottest Porsche right now is the 991 GT3 RS.
Just last week we had a near-new Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991) delivered to us. The GT3 RS featured a stunning matte grey vinyl wrap done by SD Wrap. We aptly began naming it “battleship grey”. So, from here on out, this is the battleship 991 GT3 RS.
Installing the Roll Bar
Again, lucky Mr. Alain Alba (who gets to do most of the cool projects around here) was given the task of installing a BBI Autosport GT3 roll bar in the car. Alain had been in the middle of an extensive 991 GT3 build that encompasses a lot more than the work to be done on this GT3 RS. However, that project took a 3-day break while the car was taken to shows and enjoyed by the owner before it came back to our studio to proceed with the mod work.
Here is the bare rear shelf in the 991 GT3 RS. It really needs that roll bar.
Above is the process in which the BBI roll bar went in. The bar comes in 2 parts and then it’s bolted to the car and both parts bolted to each other.
During this time, we efficiently took to the task of installing the new BBI roll bar. The Porsche 991 GT3 RS really does look bare inside without the roll bar. It’s needed. The BBI unit is most definitely a perfect option for those of you that did not tick the factory option box. Maybe you were on the fence at the time or didn’t like the cost. For those of you, this aftermarket roll bar option is excellent – likely even better.
The resulting product is absolutely outstanding.
The project moved along quickly. The only down time was the wait for powder coating which added a day to the build. The final result is a beautiful and functional GT3 roll bar in a stunning black finish.
The amazing battleship wrap makes it unique and the roll bar seals the functionality aspect of things. We do a lot of roll bars in standard GT3s and we believe it is a great option. In the 991 GT3 RS, the roll bar isn’t simply an option; it’s a must.
